The Center for Professional Development at Illinois Institute of Technology

Illinois Institute of Technology's Center for Professional Development (CPD) offers technology-oriented education and training for working professionals. The CPD draws on Illinois Institute of Technology's (IIT) extensive experience in adult education. Courses are taught by Illinois Institute of Technology professors and industry professionals with significant working, teaching and research experience in their fields.  The CPD offers working professionals degree, non-degree, certificate, credit, non-credit programs, corporate training, short courses and seminars ranging from a few hours to several days in length.

Illinois Institute of Technology's Center for Professional Development (CPD) offers technology-oriented education and training for working professionals. Programs include degree, non-degree, certificate, credit, non-credit programs, corporate training, short courses and seminars.

To accommodate working professionals, many courses are offered evenings and weekends and are available online via IIT Online or at more than fifty distance learning sites in the greater Chicago area.

Courses are taught by Illinois Institute of Technology professors and industry professionals with significant working, teaching and research experience in their fields. Small class sizes ensure individual attention and enhanced learning.

The Center for Professional Development offers the following programs:

Degree Programs - Bachelor's degree completion and Master's programs

Information Technology and Management

Bachelor of Information Technology & Management (BITM) is a transfer program that focuses on the application and management of information technology, designed to enable community college graduates or the equivalent to complete a bachelor's degree. (22 courses)

Master of Information Technology & Management (MITM) is designed primarily for professionals who seek a hands-on, laboratory based program which broadens and deepens their knowledge of new and emerging information technologies, the application and integration of these technologies and the administrative practices used in the effective management of these technologies. (10 courses)

Manufacturing/Industrial Technology and Management (MTM)

Bachelors Degree Program - the MTM bachelors degree completion program is for students with an Associate's degree in Applied Science (AAS) degree (or equivalent) from a community college. Students must also be knowledgeable about and involved in manufacturing through community college education and work experience. (22 courses)
Masters Degree Program - designed for persons who are already employed in manufacturing and have a four-year degree from a regionally accredited college or university. The Master's program provides students with up-to-date knowledge of the technologies involved in manufacturing as well as with modern management approaches. The program is specifically for students who are interested in preparing for a career in manufacturing, rather than a formal MBA program. (10 courses)

Certificate Programs - 10-26 week IT Certificate Programs and 3 course certificate programs

Information Technology Certificate Programs - (10-26 week programs) the Information Technology Certificate Programs consists of many cutting-edge information technology courses for students looking to upgrade their technical skills or make a career change into information technology. Courses are accelerated, hands-on and lab-based, and are available during the day, evening, or weekend in Wheaton or Chicago. Course length ranges from 10-26 weeks. Certificates are earned after the successful completion of each course.

Manufacturing Technology Certificate Program - (3 courses) the Manufacturing Technology and Management Certificate is appropriate for individuals with a variety of backgrounds who need a better understanding of manufacturing to perform their current jobs and qualify for promotions. For persons who already have a Bachelor's degree, the certificate provides a focused introduction to manufacturing. For persons with some college experience, this certificate would provide additional education and could also lay the groundwork for earning a Bachelor's degree.

Computer and Network Security Technologies Graduate Certificate Program - (3 courses) This program is designed for students seeking knowledge that will prepare them for careers in computer and network security and to deal with the challenging computer and network security problems facing society. The program requires only nine credit hours of study, all of which may be later applied toward the Information Technology and Management master's degree for those who apply and are accepted to the degree program.

Short courses - 1-3 day noncredit courses
