We have made this CD as compatible as possible with most operating systems and system configurations. there are some basic requirements that our Slax-based CD needs to run a scan. For a more detailed listing of requirements to run a system using Slax, refer to the Slax distribution site at http://slax.linux-live.org/requirements.php
BIOS
The user’s BIOS must support and have enabled non-emulation booting. If booting from a CD is not supported by the user’s BIOS, it may be possible to use a floppy-based bootloader such as Smart Boot Manager (http://btmgr.webframe.org/) to boot from RD-CD.
Processor
Pentium processor, equivalent, or better
Note:
Currently we are working on compatibility issues with the old Macintosh processors, the new Intel-based processors work fine though.
Memory
- At least 96MB of memory to run GUI Mode
- At least 32MB of memory to run Command-Line Mode
- Note:
The above are recommended values. The RD-CD GUI Mode has been known to run on a system with as little as 64MB of memory.
Peripherals
- Keyboard
- Mouse (GUI Mode only)
- CD-Rom drive
- A medium to scan (e.g. hard drive)
Supported File Systems
Our CD can read from and write to all file systems supported by Slax; this includes FAT, NTFS, EXT, etc. In the unlikely event that the user’s file system is not supported, please contact the RD-CD team so that we may build this support into future versions.
