SC 531 Excel 2003: Basics

In this course, the essential spreadsheet features of the Microsoft Excel program providing the user with the skills needed to develop spreadsheet applications are covered. Topics covered in this course include:
• Basics of spreadsheet, opening, navigating and understanding the terminology.
• Reviewing Excel’s major elements and the workbook structure.
• Copying and editing data.
• Basic functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, MIN and MAX and their use in performing calculations.
• Create, format, modify and print charts from worksheet data.
• Formatting of text, rows and columns in a workbook.
• Using the AutoFormat feature to speed formatting of worksheets
• Printing worksheets.
• Create and print charts using worksheet data.
• Web interfacing.

Prerequisites:
• Basic knowledge of the Windows Operating System.
• Opening and saving files.
• Printing of documents.

Who should attend: This course is for anyone new to Excel and spreadsheets. The course introduces the participant to Excel’s “number-crunching” and report generating capabilities. The capabilities of Excel 2003 are introduced and are practiced during this one day session.

Expected outcomes: Participants will be able to consolidate information, manipulate the information and generate reports displaying that information in the best manner.
